SUBMITTING YOUR CHILD’S PHOTO
Submitting your child’s photo is easy. You can upload your child’s photo in the photo upload section on checkout. Just press the ‘upload image’ button and select the image from your computer or mobile device that you wish to upload. See below for photo-tips:
- Photos can be taken on a digital camera or mobile device such as an iPhone or iPad.
- The photo needs to be in JPG format (this is the most common image format).
- If you are taking the photo specifically for this book, please take it in front of a plain background. We know that this is not always possible so do not worry if it is not a plain background as we will crop and isolate the image.
- Make sure the photo is clear and in focus. Have the child looking directly at the camera and ideally they should be smiling.
- There should be nothing obstructing the child’s face in the photo (e.g. hat, hand, object).
- For children with long hair, cropping their faces works best if their hair is in a ponytail, bun, pigtails or plaits that are situated in front of their shoulders. Cropping does not work well if their hair is out and behind their shoulders.
- Please rename the JPG file to your child’s name. Please ensure spelling is correct. This can also be included in the Order Notes if you wish.
- Once you have uploaded your photo we will proof the image and if there are any issues with the photo we will contact you.
Photo Tips
PLEASE READ ALL PHOTO TIPS TO ENSURE YOU GET THE BEST QUALITY BOOK. Please do not stress though. We can use most photos however if you follow the tips below it will ensure the quality of your book is top notch!
• Please only upload 1 photo per child. You can however attach an extra photo to be included on the dedication page (e.g. family photo or a favourite photo of yourself and the Child).
• Photos can be taken on a digital camera or mobile device such as an iPhone or iPad.
• Where possible use an original photo, not a photo downloaded screen grabbed from Instagram of Facebook as these photos have a lower print quality. If this is for a gift and you have no other photo options aside from Facebook or Instagram just make sure it is a photo nice and close to the Child’s face. A good tip to work out if it will print well is to zoom in on the face on your phone. If it doesn’t look blurry when you zoom it should print fine 🙂
• Please DO NOT crop or edit the photo in any way as this reduces the print quality of the photo. We can do this on our end without compromising the quality.
• If you are getting a photo from a friend get them to email it to you rather than text it as texting reduces the resolution of a photo. Make sure the attach the photo at it’s “Actual Size”, not small, medium or large.
• If you are taking the photo specifically for this book (recommended), please take it in front of a plain background, preferably inside with lots of natural light to ensure there is no shadowing on the face.
• Take the photo as close to the face as possible and make sure the entire face and hair are visible.
• There should be nothing obstructing the child’s face in the photo (e.g. hat, hand, object).
• For children with long hair, cropping their faces works best if their hair is in a ponytail, high bun, pigtails or plaits that are situated in front of their shoulders. Cropping does not work well if their hair is out and behind their shoulders.
• Once you have uploaded your photo we will proof the image and if there are any issues with the photo we will contact you.
